Female Child Molester Gets Probation

Amanda Polanco, 32-year-old woman from Farmington, New Mexico, has pleaded guilty per an agreement to criminal sexual penetration of a minor and was sentenced to 18 months of supervised probation.

Polanco was arrested in May 2 for allegedly engaging in sex with a 15-year-old boy at least four times in March and April before the boy’s father notified police. She was charged with four counts of criminal sexual penetration of a child.

Polanco pleaded guilty under an Alford plea, which means the defendant does not admit the act but admits sufficient evidence exists that likely would result in a guilty verdict. District Judge Thomas Hynes agreed to give Polanco a conditional discharge, in which the woman upon completing all the requirements of her probation, including court-ordered therapy, will not have a criminal record. One of the reasons for the plea agreement was to alleviate further trauma to the victim, Assistant District Attorney Kip Keil said in court.
