Woman Gets Prison for Molesting A Girl

Meghan Allison Stewart, 28-year-old female teacher from Humboldt County, California, has been sentenced to six years, eight months in prison.

Stewart, was arrested in January at the school where she was teaching for alleged child sex crimes and she faced one count of the continuous sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14 and one count of oral copulation of a person under the age of 16. The victim — now an adult — came forward to the police department on Dec. 30 2010, saying she’d been molested by Stewart as a child. Arcata Police Department detectives had her place a recorded telephone call to Stewart, during which Stewart admitted to the offenses.

The molestations occurred 50-100 times in Stewart’s Arcata residence between September 2004 and August 2007, while Stewart was an assistant coach with the Mad River Youth Soccer League’s Humboldt Storm team.

Stewart pleaded guilty in April 2011 to continuous sexual abuse of a child and oral copulation of a person under 16.

When released, Stewart will be placed on parole for five years, and she will have to register as a sex offender for life under the terms of the agreement.

The victim told she has felt an inability to connect with people, to feel worthy of others’ love and to confront the ugly secret she carried for six years. She said she suffered anxiety attacks, isolated herself, became addicted to marijuana and began obsessively picking out her eyelashes.
