Counselor accused of performing oral sex on boy

Brooke Briscoe, 27-year-old counselor at a group home for troubled teens in Mount Washington, Kentucky, has been accused of engaging in sex with a teenage boy in her care. She was arrested this week and charged with raping a 17-year-old resident of the Sunrise Spring Meadows Residential Facility.

Briscoe, of the 9000 block of Pegasus Pointe Drive in Okolona, faces charges of rape in the 3rd degree and sodomy in the 3rd degree. Deputies launched the investigation after Child Protective Services discovered Briscoe allegedly had sexual contact with a 17-year-old male on November 11. She was arrested at her home with the help of Louisville Metro Police. The Sheriff's Department says she had intercourse and oral sex with a 17-year-old male resident at Sunrise Child Services in Mt. Washington on Sunrise's property.

Briscoe was fired from the facility after her arrest by the sheriff’s department. Sunrise Children’s Services in Mount Washington is also conducting an internal investigation and reviewing its own policies and procedures to check whether any changes need to be made to avoid future situations, according to the statement. Though 16 is the legal age of consent in Kentucky, different laws apply because of Briscoe’s role as a caretaker at the facility.
