Maine Woman Gets Prison for Sex Abuse of 7-year-old boy

Katie Dube, 27-year-old woman from Bangor, Maine, who in the end of the last year withdrew her guilty plea has been sentenced  to 23 years in prison, followed by 15 years of supervised release on charges in connection with the sexual abuse of a now 9-year-old boy.

In May 2012 Dube was indicted for sex assault and exploitation of a seven-year-old boy, and she  pleaded guiltyin october to five counts of gross sexual assault and two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. In December she withdrew her guilty plea after the judge rejected an agreement that called for her to serve a maximum sentence of 17 years. She  recently decided to plead guilty again.

Dube, of Glenburn along with Terrence A. Pinkham, 27, of Bangor were arrested after police found child pornography on an electronic device. According to police, couple “created child porn” but did not distribute images over the Internet. The child, now 9, lives with a relative in rural Penobscot County and is related to Katie  Dube, according to court documents and information presented in court. Even the child is related to Dube incest was not among the charges.

Under Maine law, Dube will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of her life. Conditions of her supervised release include no unsupervised contact with children under the age of 18, no access to the Internet without permission from her probation officer, undergoing sex offender treatment, no use of drugs or alcohol, and random searches and testing for those substances.
