Another Naughty Librarian Accused of Sex with Teen

Abby J. Berkheimer, 33-year-old woman from Queensbury, New York, has been arrested for an alleged sexual relationship with a 15-year-old boy.

Berkheimer, a librarian at the Crandall Public Library and heads the teen program, faces felony charges of third-degree rape and third-degree criminal sexual act and one misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of a child. According to police, the library was the place where Berkheimer met the teen boy in March 2012 and their alleged sexual relationship began in August same year. Investigators say they have no reason to believe any illegal sexual activity happened at the library.

Abby Berkheimer was arrested at her home in Queensbury after the boy’s parents alerted police when the teen did not come home on time and was found at Berkheimer’s home on Queens Way where she lives with her boyfriend. After investigation police found the teen had been involved in a sexual relationship with the librarian for some moths.

Berkheimer was arraigned in Queensbury Town Court and sent to the Warren County Correctional Facility on $2,500 bail. A no-contact order of protection was issued on behalf of the teen. The age of consent in New York is 17.
