Woman Accused of Sex Abuse Resulting Pregnancy

Carrie Jean Berg, 38-year-old woman from Fargo, North Dakota, is accused of having sexual relationship with a 14-year-old boy more than 15 years ago.

Charges againts Berg were filed after a DNA test showed the boy fathered a child with the woman. The alleged victim told police Carrie Berg molested him for years, starting when he was 9 or 10 years old and continuing until he was 14 or 15 years old. Investigators allege the child would have been conceived in 1997 sometime between July and September.

According to police socuments, Bergreported to West Fargo police in September 1997 that the 14-year-old boy had sexually assaulted her. Carrie Berg was 22-year-old at the time.

But when asked by a police detective in an interview in December 2012, Carrie Berg said it was possible they had sex without any forcing – though she later said she didn’t know, court records state. Prosecutors filed charges of gross sexual imposition, one count as a Class AA felony and one as a Class A felony. A conviction on the Class AA charge carries a minimum prison sentence of five years followed by from five to 10 years of supervised probation.
