Paula George Sentenced for Sex Assault

Paula M. George, 40-year-old woman from Portage, Wisconsin, who was accused of sexual assault of a 14-year-old boy and child abuse of a 13-year-old girl, has been ordered to serve a year in jail and more than a decade on probation.

George pleaded no contest in August 2012 to a felony charge of second-degree sexual assault of a child; two additional similar charges were dismissed, but were taken into account when she was sentenced. Two additional felony charges from an unrelated incident, child abuse and strangulation and suffocation, were dismissed.

Assistant District Attorney Crystal Long said she is extremely dissapointed and believes it is the first time she has seen a person not be sent to prison who was convicted of sexual assault of a child.

According to court documents, Paula George had intercourse with a 14-year-old boy on three separate occasions on July 24, July 26 and July 28. The boy told investigators that Paula George knew he was 14 at the time and that he told her he wanted to stop having sex because he didn’t want them to get into trouble. George reportedly admitted police that she recalled having sex with the boy one time, but that she was drinking a lot and it might have been three times.

Judge also ordered Paula George to undergo psychological and sex offender evaluations, ordered her to register as a sex offender, to remain sober during her probation, and to have no contact with minors or be involved in dating or a sexual relationship unless approved by a probation agent.
